Questions
What people ask
Whom should I enter?
The oldest ancestor you know something about, ideally a great-grandparent. We search parish registers from Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia. An ancestor born in 1920 or earlier. One event is enough: the year and village of a birth, a wedding or a death.
Why do you ask for so many details?
Registers are kept by parish and the same names repeat in them. The village tells us the book, the year the page, and the names of the parents or the wife confirm that it is your ancestor and not a namesake.
How fast will it be?
Usually the same day, within a week at the latest. Records before 1784, weddings and deaths and some regions take longer, because a person reads them. You will see the time on the request form as soon as you pick the village.
Why is it free?
We want you to see how we work before you pay anything. If you like the result, you can unlock everything we found on top ($25 (€22)) and search further ($9 (€8) for every ancestor we find). If not, nothing happens.
What if you do not find the record?
We write to you why and what to try next. You can enter up to three attempts, for example with a different year or village.
What about my family living outside the Czech Republic?
Give us the village in today's Czech Republic that your ancestor came from, the one the family remembers from stories or papers. If you are not sure of its name, write what you know and we will go through it together.
What will you do with my details?
We use them only for the free sample and a possible quote. We do not need details about living people. You can close your account any time (the data stays stored and the account can be restored).
One ancestor is enough.
