Moje historie

About us

Grandma's cousin drew up our family tree. I tried to build it again.

He taught history in Brno and wrote no sources on his sheets. I looked for them in the parish registers, record by record. That is how Moje historie began.

The top of an old sheet titled The Hromek family, main branch: boxes with names and years, František Hromek born 1840, Štěpán Hromek born 1846, joined by lines
The Hromek family, sheet one of seven. Names and years, without a single source.

I.

How much of it is true?

I took the first name on the sheet and looked for it in the registers. Most of it holds. Some of it does not.

How we read a record

A wedding from 1835, written in German in old script. Field by field.

A record from the register of marriages, Hostěnice 1835: in the columns the date 15 September, houses 44 and 13, the groom Franz Hromek, 25, the bride Marianne Říčankova, 22, and the priest Joannes Hoenigsberger

Record by record, further back

  • 970 people
  • 1 497 register records
  • 1650 oldest record

The sheet began with František Hromek, born in 1810. The registers and the manor records led me further: to Jakub Hromek, a half farmer in Horákov in 1700.

Every fact in the family tree links to the record it comes from.

And this is what came of it

Today's tree of my family. The Hromeks, the Blažeks, the Mikšíks and all their ancestors.

That is why Moje historie

We now offer you the same road. We start with one ancestor: we read their record from the parish register for free.

  • We search parish registers from Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia.
  • An ancestor born in 1920 or earlier.
