Ask your family tree in Claude and ChatGPT

What you can ask

• “Who was my oldest known ancestor on my father's side?”
• “Show me the record of my great-grandfather's birth.”
• “How am I related to aunt Marie?”
• “Who lived in our family's cottage, and since when?”
• “What happened in our family in 1848?”
• “Where does our line of ancestors end and what should we look for next?”

In Claude the answers come with interactive cards: a person's card with the record, the family, a fan of ancestors, how you are related, a timeline, a map of the village and a gallery of cut-outs from the records. The connector also has ready-made commands: An ancestor's story, Chronicle of a year, Ancestor chart for grandma and What to look for next.

The data in the family tree is in Czech for now; the assistant answers in the language you ask in.

What the assistant can do for you, always only after you confirm

On request it also does things in the family tree: adds a child or a spouse, corrects a name, records a death, e-mails grandma a family questionnaire, invites a relative or prepares the Family Book for printing. It shows you every change first (for an e-mail the full text) and makes it only when you confirm it in the conversation. Without that, our server writes nothing.

The assistant may only do what your role on the website allows (a family member reads, the tree's manager edits). It cannot delete the family tree or make payments. You allow edits separately when connecting. Without that box ticked, the assistant can only read the tree.

How to connect your family tree

You need a family tree at Moje historie and its sign-in (e-mail and password, or Google). The connector address is the same for every family:

Claude (claude.ai, the desktop and mobile apps)

1. In the connectors directory search for Moje historie. Until the connector is listed there, open Settings › Connectors › Add custom connector and paste the address above.
2. Click Connect. The sign-in to your family tree opens, the same as on the website.
3. On the Connect family tree page choose the family (if you have more than one), tick Allow edits to the family tree if you want, and click Allow.
4. In a conversation switch the connector on (the “+” button) and ask.

In the Claude mobile app a connector added on the web is available by itself. In Team and Enterprise plans the organization's administrator adds the connector.

ChatGPT

Once it is published in the ChatGPT app directory, search for Moje historie and click Connect. Sign-in and consent are the same as in Claude. Until then the family tree can be connected only as a custom app in ChatGPT developer mode with the address above.

Claude Code

In the terminal claude mcp add --transport http mojehistorie https://mojehistorie.cz/mcp, then in Claude Code /mcp › mojehistorie › Authenticate.

Privacy

• The assistant sees the same as you on the website. About living relatives only what the family allowed in the tree's settings (everything, names and links only, or nothing).
• What appears from your family tree in a conversation is stored by the assistant's app in your account under its own rules (Anthropic for Claude, OpenAI for ChatGPT).
• We store who connected the app and when, and which tools it called, without the content of your questions. We do not read your conversation or the assistant's memory.
• Details in our privacy policy.

Disconnecting

You can disconnect at any time: in the assistant's app (in Claude under Settings › Connectors) or in your family tree on the Connected apps page (account menu). The connection ends by itself after a password change, after signing out everywhere, when the account is blocked, and after 90 days without use.

When something does not work

• The assistant says it cannot make the change: the connection is read-only. Disconnect the family tree and connect it again with Allow edits to the family tree ticked, or make the change on the website.
• Connecting ends with a sign-in error: try signing in at mojehistorie.cz/ucet. If that works, remove the connector and add it again.
• Living relatives are missing: the family hid them in the tree's settings for assistants, or left names only. The tree's manager changes the setting.
